Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 6: CBS has released a first-look and preview of the upcoming Christmas-themed episode of Elsbeth, titled “Gold, Frankincense, and Murder.” This holiday mystery will air on Thursday, December 5 2024. It was written by Erica Larson and directed by Rachel Raimist.
Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 6 plot
The episode introduces Dirk and DeeDee Dashers, two famous Christmas curators who seem to live in the holiday spirit with their huge collection of Christmas decorations and fun logos. The holiday cheer turns dark, though, when Dirk dies in what looks like a freak accident. Elsbeth (Carrie Preston) is always wary of strange events, and she quickly gets the feeling that Dirk’s death might not have been an accident. He has a wife named DeeDee, played by Vanessa Bayer. She starts to think that she might have something to do with his untimely death. The episode also hints at a holiday surprise for Elsbeth from Wagner and Kaya (Carra Patterson), which means there will be some fun moments in between the scary ones.

Vanessa Bayer as Deedee Dashers
This is a special episode with Vanessa Bayer and Dan Bucatinsky. They add their own special charm to the holiday mystery. DeeDee Dashers, played by Bayer, is a happy-go-lucky Christmas fanatic who has spent years living in her husband’s shadow and acting like a devoted wife to keep up the holiday spirit for their brand. But when DeeDee’s request for a divorce is turned down, she acts on her own, showing that she’s ready to do anything from decorating to killing to get her freedom.
Dan Bucatinsky as Kidder Hawes
Kidder Hawes, played by Dan Bucatinsky, is an expert in branding who works with the Dashers’ Christmas empire. Kidder has big dreams for DeeDee’s future. He wants her to be a Christmas widow, which could be both profitable and sad. Kidder and DeeDee form a special bond, and the way they talk to each other adds to the story by balancing strategy and suspicion.
The episode has both Elsbeth’s usual wit and the added drama of a holiday setting. Fans can expect great performances from Vanessa Bayer and Dan Bucatinsky— who are in charge of the guest cast. People will likely be curious about Deedee’s story—was it really an accident or a cold-blooded Christmas crime? Kidder’s presence is entertaining because he helps Deedee write her new story while also being a part of the investigation without realizing it. In addition Elsbeth’s side story about Wagner and Kaya’s holiday surprise will be a heartwarming contrast to the main mystery.
